Sara
& Ellie I had it figured backwards -- I
thought Sara would have been the popular one in high school, but it turns
out Ellie ran with the cool kids.
Sara probably spent way too much time figure skating. They weren't friends in high
school, but now they've been best friends forEVER. Ellie introduces Sara as, "This is
my best friend Sara," then hugs Sara and kisses her on the cheek. One summer, Ellie was away working
as a camp counselor. Her
then-boyfriend cheated on her
with several other girls, one of whom was Sara. They later met at a party and
laughed about how their paths had crossed. Ellie and the boy broke up. Sara and Ellie became best
friends. Sara dated Ellie's
best guy friend for 4 years, and for a while they all lived together. They're all still friends, even
the then-boyfriend who "introduced" Sara and Ellie. A
girl at the gas station… Brian tells me that in the middle
of looking for a job and raising a two year old on his own, he met a
girl. He saw her at a gas
station and introduced himself. He gave her an old business card
(remember, he's unemployed at the moment), and asked, "Would you mind if I
called you sometime? I
noticed you while you were pumping your gas..." "I was hoping you did," she told
him. A week later his car died. A week later, and he wouldn't have
been at the gas station. That's how it happens sometimes.
