Mexico What other country has a state named after another country? It seems a bit brazen to steal land from one nation and call it by the same name. New Mexico is digging up the alleged grave of Billy the Kid, to validate their claim to fame. If you want to see the final resting place of the famous outlaw, do what Billy did: stay away from New Mexico. Rhode Island Really, why bother? Delaware It's "The First State." More notably, this bit of rocky coast land has been amusing school children for centuries ("What did Della wear? "Her new jersey."). Texas South Texans are dealing with problems involving illegal immigration from Mexico. Maybe they could check into how the Mexicans during Polks presidency dealt with illegal immigration from the North. Maybe not. California Takes its name from the Spanish "Californication," meaning to spread annoying West Coast cultural assumptions among unsuspecting Midwest faster than chlamydia on a college campus (in California, of course). Home of both Gay Pride and White Supremacy. If it were a sovereign nation, California would have the third largest economy in the world. Its currency would be plummeting as rapidly as the dollar. |
